About

The ICBL (Inner City Basketball League) was founded in 2025 by Jason Bateman, in response to demand in the inner western suburbs of Sydney for a junior basketball competition, where kids can get fit, and develop their ball skills at the same time.

The competition aims to provide kids with a chance to compete and develop their skills in a friendly environment on the basketball court. Our competitions follow the NSW school term structure, with finals held on the last weekend of term. Our game day is Sundays, and we cater for age groups from U10 to U16 currently.

We aim to provide an accessible competition, with aim of giving everyone the change to play even at a beginner level with confidence.

We are also operating a representative program, where we invite players from clubs in our competition to try out to join our representative team, which play in Basketball NSW affiliated competitions (such as City of Sydney), providing a path to playing the state league.

We hope you can join us on your basketball journey, and learn the values of hard work, being part of a team, and having fun at the same time, as well as learning resiliency.
